Our project for January for the Crochet Guild was the piece on the middle of this pillow. It was supposed to be a hot pad on which to sit hot pans. Mine, however, didn't want any pans getting it dirty so it became instead a pillow.
I went with the colors of red, jadeite and pink because those were popular colors of the era from which the pattern originated. Without thinking about it and as luck would have it this pillow matches my bedspread perfectly. My bedroom is Shabby Chic and full of vintage dolls, ceramics, glassware, pictures etc from the forties and fifties so this pillow fits right in.
I enjoyed the process of the hot pad part as it was new to me. It was though very easy and one day soon I want to use the process to make an all cotton bathmat. The only downside is that these are very time consuming and require a whole lot of yarn.
Thanks to Pam from the guild for her presentation and pattern.
I am a designer and a finder. I crochet, knit, sew, make jewelry & dabble in just about every craft known to man. I love to find objects to revamp and vintage treasures at Goodwill, garage sales, estate sales, flea markets, etc. What do I do with the things I find, make or repurpose? Well, I either sell them, give them as gifts, use them to decorate my home or I wear them.

About Me
- Lisa Lian
- Thanks for checking out my blog. I have been crocheting and sewing for about 45 years. I learned from my grandmother and in 4-H. I started taking knitting classes about 5 years ago and I am obsessed with knitting. I am a self-taught jewelry maker. I also dabble in polymer clay and just about every other craft known to man. I love to go to garage sales, estate sales, flea markets and Goodwill. I love to take old things and revamp them in to something pretty or useful. I love to reuse old sweaters and clothing for the fabric, old jewelry and old home decor items. I like the idea of recycling and I also like to be able to make nice items without spending a lot on supplies. This, as well as being a pro bargain finder, helps me to keep my prices low. I am happy to take requests for special items You can find my items at lisalian.etsy.com.
